On September, 1  2016y.  the museum will be closed due to the celebration of Independence Day of Uzbekistan.

                                                     International Museums’ Day

On May, 18 International museums’ day was celebrated in our museum with the festive event entitled “Museum and Music”.

In the event classic songs and dances sounded by the pupils of School of music #12, national karakalpak songs of bakhshi and jirau were performed and  satirist M.Abdijamilov, well-known among the common people under the pseudonym “Yumorbek” did a number.

The concert program was especially interesting for the foreign visitors from different countries.

Round table with archeologists

On May 14, there was held a round table entitled “New scientific discoveries and scientific achievements in the sphere of archeology for the years of Independence” dedicated to the 18th of May, International Museum’s Day.

The participants of the round table were doctors, archeologists of Humanitarian scientific research Institute of the Karakalpak branch of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences, teachers of the Karakalpak State University, Nukus Pedagogical Institute, scientific researchers of our museum and representatives of local mass-media.

At the round table the latest discoveries in the scientific world of archeology of Karakalpakstan were discussed – ancient fortress of Aksha – khan kala, Pul-jay kala and others, Kerder culture, Middle Ages Khorezm civilization and others.

Exhibition of Tashkent artists

The talented uzbek painters’ personal exhibition “The image of the Homeland in the art of uzbek painters” was opened on the 12th of May, 2016 in the museum, which was dedicated to the International Museum’s Day.

There are more than 100 works of painters are at the exhibition.  One can find big ingenuousness and freshness of the pictorial view, lyricism and subtle sense in the works of D.Mamedova and D.Yuldashev.

The works of artists disclose diversity of the landscape motives, where the nature of Central Asia is closely interwoven with the theme of happy childhood and wisdom of the old age.

The exhibition was opened by the speech of the museum director, authors of the painters at the exhibition and   museum staff. And the opening of exhibition was also attended by representatives of Karakalpak branch of Uzbek Academy of Arts, workers of art, teachers and students of art school and mass media staff.

The exhibition runs till the 10 of August, 2016.

The photo exhibition “Uzbekistan is a magnanimous land”

At 15:00 of April 18, 2016 the opening of photo exhibition “Uzbekistan is a magnanimous land” was held, organized together by the Ministries of Cultural and Sports Affairs of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan.

The photo exhibition includes 120 photographs in three directions.
1) The creations, constructed new buildings, culture and sport
2) The achievements in sport field
3) Religious tolerance

In the first part are exhibited the pictures of modern schools, colleges, fountains and modern buildings erected over 25 years of Independence, celebrities who made a progress in the field of art together with a  talented youth and holidays  of Navruz and Independence Day.

In the next part are represented the photos reflecting madrasah and mosques, built in the period of Independence and also worshipping moments of 16 religious confessions in Catholic, Orthodox, Judaism, Buddhist, Bahaism and Krishna temples, churches that were constructed alongside with Islam establishments on the basis of equality regardless of religious ideas.

State officials, the staff of organizations under ministry and the students of university, institute, college and schools of Karakalpakstan were invited to the exhibition. The students of folklore department of the Nukus art college participated with their concert program. The photo exhibition will run 3 days and be broadcasted on all channels of   Uzbekistan TV and Radio.


To the 680th anniversary of Amir Temur

On April 6, 2016 museum held a conference, dedicated to the 680th anniversary of Amir Temur – great military leader (commander).

Senior doctorates, associate professors, lecturers, undergraduate students of Karakalpak State university, senior researchers of the museum and representatives of mass-media took part at the conference.

The director of the museum opened the conference with a report. Outstanding professors, Doctors and Candidates of history, students of bachelor’s and master’s degrees and museum staff made speeches about the life and activity of Amir Temur.

Navruz in the museum

On March 18th, 2016 the museum held a celebration of Navruz under the title "Welcome to our land - Navruz". The event was opened by the director of the museum, also U.H.Shalekenov - a well-known scientist, doctor of historical sciences, a member of the Khorezm archaeological and ethnographic expedition of Karakalpakstan and war veteran- made a speech.

The event was accompanied by national music and songs, which were made by the artists of the State Music Theatre named after Berdakh, students and faculty of the Nukus branch of the Tashkent State Institute of Culture and Arts and the Nukus College of Culture and Arts. Also at the event, a mini-exhibition of products of local artisans was organized.

At the end, several workers of our museum in connection with the celebration of Navruz and for the recognition of good work were awarded with Certificates of honor on behalf of the museum administration. The event was covered in the local media and TV.

90th Anniversary of the artist K.Berdimuratov

On March 10, 2016 solo exhibition dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of People's artist of Karakalpakstan K.Berdimuratov was opened in the museum. The exhibition features 130 paintings and graphic works of the artist and as well as the artist's sculptural works from the museum's collection.

The exhibition was opened with the speech of the museum director, also artists who knew him during his life spoke. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Karakalpak branch of the Academy of Arts, artists, relatives and friends of the artist and representatives of the local media and TV participated at the exhibition.


Photo exhibition of François Poche

The photo exhibition of Francois Poche was opened on 21st of January at the museum, who specialized in photography of historical monuments.The photo exhibition was supported by French Embassy in Uzbekistan. Photo exhibition is consisted of 27 photos of cultural-historical monuments in  Uzbekistan, which were shot in Shakhrisabz, Tashkent, Bukhara, Ellikkala.

During the numerous trips Francois Poche realized exhibitions dedicated to Northern Quebec, Inuitam, Scandinavia, Africa and Uzbekistan. He also made photos of restorations of the cathedral of the Virgin and cupolas of the House of Invalids in Paris.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition is being published on local Mass Media, websites and on websites of the French Embassy in Uzbekistan.

Year of attention and care for the senior generation

As 2015 year has been announced “Year of attention and care for the senior generation”, our museum pays a due attention and serves as properly all the visitors of elder age in the course of year. 

The guided tours at exhibition halls of the museum are organized for veterans and other visitors of older age.

Sportsmen of Special Olympiad

On the eve of   December, 3 -“Day of Handicapped People” and with the purpose of charity,  the museum was attended by physically challenged children-sportsmen from Karakalpak department of public organization Special Olympiad of Karakalpakstan.

The sportsmen and their family members, friends made a tour of the museum.

Visit of priests

On November 12, Metropolitan Vikentiy, the leader of Central Asiatic region and other priests visited museum. The tour was organized for them at the museum.


The world karakalpak of music

The concert   “The world karakalpak   music” was held at the Karakalpakstan State Art museum named after Savitsky.
Concert includes karakalpak national music, which was organized especially for tourists, who came from foreign country, USA.
The students and teachers from the school of music and art named after Eshan performed throat singing at the concert.
Bakhsy and musicians played the national musical instruments. The event was attended by representatives of mass media.


The Best Museum of Uzbekistan!

There was a competition called “Museum is a mirror of folk history” in Tashkent dedicated to the International Museum Day and the museum is acknowledged as “The Best museum of Uzbekistan” and awarded with statuette, certificate and TV set “Artel” on May 18, 2015.

«Night at the Museum»

On the 15, 2015 the Savitsky State Art Museum held a campaign “Night at the museum”, dedicated to the International Museum Day. The programme included folklore ensemble and pop singers concert, puppet theatre’s performance for children and excursions about masterpieces of museum collection under title “History and mysteries of museum exhibits”, fashion show of national and modern costumes, shows of humorist and magician.

Winners of quiz called “What do you know about our museum?” were awarded with special gifts of the museum. There was screening of the documentary film called “Pearl of the Uzbekistan” every hour. The actors who animated some personages of paintings and exhibits from the museum collection were walking at the exhibition halls and among visitors in the façade of museum building. So they showed an original “animation of painting”.

The company “Nestle Uzbekistan” which is a permanent partner of the museum treated visitors with coffee in the framework of this campaign.

Mr. David Pearce, a chairman of board of the club “Friends of the Nukus Museum” made a speech at the opening of the campaign that had come to participate in the event. He noted about our museum’s importance in the speech and said about the 100th anniversary of Savitsky and 50th anniversary of the museum in 2016 and construction of the new building and many others. The campaign was attended by official establishments, members of the ministry of culture and sport, honored Art and cultural workers, tourists, guests of capital of Karakalpakstan.

The campaign got visitors 3 times more than last year, surpassing all expectations of organizers.

Veterans of Republic at the museum

On the “Year of the attention and care for the older generation” our museum as in the previous years, renders services to all visitors of older age and as well as to the veterans. Recently the veterans, who worked in the sphere of justice, have visited our museum, for whom in our turn there has been organized a tour of the museum exhibitions.

Visit of the delegation of German businessmen headed by the Ambassador

May 4th, 2015 the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Mr. Neithart Höfer-Wissing with the workers of the embassy and representatives of the German business visited the museum, who got to know with unique collection of the museum and discussed mutual cooperation in the future.

A new exhibition at the museum

Exhibition dedicated to the Year of the attention and care for the older generation under the title “Autumn of life-a golden season” opened on April 27th, 2015. More than 80 works of artists of Uzbekistan, Russia and Karakalpakstan were presented at the exhibition from the museum collection, which with their stylistics and meaning are associated with a noble oldness and wisdom.

Veterans of the museum, representatives of the Karakalpak branch of the Academy of sciences, Ministry of the culture and sports of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, famous actors of arts, artists, students of the Nukus school of the aristic and applied arts and also representatives of the mass media.

Also representatives of the German cultural centers of Uzbekistan and the Society of the International Cooperation GmbH(GIZ) participated at the exhibition, who specially arrived to get acquainted with oeuvre of the renovator of the museum A.A.Shpady on the occasion of the  upcoming jubilee of the artist. Administration of the museum organized meeting of the representatives with the museum employees, guests of the exhibition and mass media.


Training seminar of UNESCO

Training seminar entitled “Management of the museums” organized by the National Comission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO was held at the museum on April 26, 2015.

The reports on the museum management, problems and organizational issues were discussed at the meeting.

Executive secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO A.Ikramov hold the seminar for participants - Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Karakalpakstan A.Nietullaev, the Head of the Museum management A.Mirzorahimov, President of the International Fund of Amir Temur N.Habibullaeva, the Directors of Savitsky museum, Geology museum of Uzbekistan, the museum of Timurids, the History of Uzbekistan, Arts of Uzbekistan and their staff, other museums in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Institute of Design named after K.Behzod.

The visit of the Russian Diplomats

The delegation of the Russian Diplomats with the Ambassador V.L.Turdenev visited the museum on April 23rd, 2015. During the next visit the Head of Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo  Mr.V.N.Shulika discussed the issues of the partnership with the museum in connection with the upcoming jubilee of I.V.Savitsky.

Conference at the museum

The meeting of the Committee on the foreign policy of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Jokargi Kenes and Office of UNESCO was held on April 20th, 2015 for discussing and implementing in the Republic of Karakalpakstan the requirements of the “Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage” (Paris, November 23rd, 1972)

The issues of preservation of cultural monuments and existing problems on the territory of Karakalpakstan were discussed at the meeting and various suggestions were made to address them.

The Chairman of the Committee on the foreign policy of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Safaev, the Head of the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan Krista Pikkat, US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Pamela Spratlen, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan Yuri Sterk, Advisor on Culture and Cooperation of the Embassy of France Olivier Guillaume, officials of the government of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Karakalpakstan branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other members of the delegation participated at the meeting.

Tours of the museum exposures were organized for the participants of the meeting.


Popularity of our museum as a tourist attraction has been evaluated by the reviews of the Asian judges and visitors and was awarded with a medal “TOP CHOICE 2015”

On December 16-17, 2014 managers in the field of international culture from Goethe Institute jointly with the Ministry of culture and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and OXUS Culture held a seminar-training on management in the field of culture for the specialists of public sector in our museum.

The project was aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of culture and arts, the purposes of which was acquaintance of the specialists with advanced and modern technologies of the security and popularization of the cultural and national traditions, designing of joint projects, efficient utilization of available opportunities.

Trainings of the project were carried out with methods of interactive communication, theoretical knowledge was reinforced with practical exercises and modeling. Also there were discussed questions of distribution the production of the projects, cooperation with mass media, marketing and methods of PR.  

Seminar was held by Khusniddin Ato – the director of the project, manager in the field of international culture and Sardor Gaziev – manager in the field of international culture. The associates of the museum and workers of different organizations participated in the seminar.


On the 20th of October in the museum was organized the event “Besh-barmak – the meal of ancient nomads”, dedicated to the karakalpak national cuisine and music.
The pupils of the school of music and art №12 performed national musics and dances. In the museum café the guests were demonstrated the cooking process of the meal “besh-barmak” – which is called “gurtik” in karakalpak and “sorpa” – broth, boiled on a slow fire in a cauldron.

The participants of the event were foreign tourists, schoolchildren, the representatives of the school of music and art №12 and Karakalpak mass-media.

On September, 26 the master-class entitled “Karakalpaks- impressionists of the desert” was held at the museum. It was dedicated to the Karakalpak national embroidery. The teacher in national embroidery at Nukus School of music and art #1 G.Saparbaeva conducted a master-class. The selection of fabric, colour matching and technique of embroidery were shown at the master-class. There was a demonstration of embroidered clothes, bags and etc. Then the guests were offered a concert given by pupils of the school.

The tourists, pupils, teachers of school of music and art #1 and mass-media attended the event.



On the 22th of September an award ceremony of winners and laureates of Internet-festival national domain UZ 2014 was held at the Youth Creativity Palace in Tashkent. Among numerous nominees our museum web-site: http://museum.kr.uz was awarded with the first place diploma and prizes in the field of culture.



On September 16, 2014 the exhibition “Eternity and beauty in the art of sculptor” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the leading sculptor in Karakalpakstan J. Kuttymuratov  was opened at the museum.

The creative path of the sculptor is closely bound with the Karakalpakstan museum of art founded by I. Savitsky.  The establishment of the museum, restorer’s career at the museum and I. Savitsky’s support in his formation as a sculptor played a significant part in Kuttymuratov’s art development. 

The opening of exhibition was attended by outstanding painters of Karakalpakstan, the students of art school under Karakalpak branch of Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and mass media.

On September 12, 2014 our museum was closed for 4 hours for a special servicing of VIP group (80 persons) from different countries. A special reception was organized for guests. The museum director M. Babanazarova and art-critique, scientific officer of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg A. Lepork gave a tour to the visitors at the museum halls.



On the 2nd of September the solo exhibition entitled “The Silk Whirlwind” of A.N.Volkov   -   one of the founders of the Uzbek school of Fine Arts was opened. Trade mark NESCAFE Gold was the sponsor of the exhibition.
The exhibition displays more than 70 paintings and drawings, most of them haven’t   been displayed before. The visitors can see the paintings that have been restored by specialists such as those from Moscow, international organization RSF as well as the Savitsky State Museum of Art restorers
The programme of the event included screening of documentary “Museum remains”, guided tours, buffet, the third meeting of “Café Scientific”, in the museum café, where friends and acquaintances continued the talks and recollections about the great master and A.A.Volkov read the poems by A.N.Volkov.
At the opening of exhibition the artist’s family donated to the museum 3 paintings by A.N.Volkov that have been temporarily   held in the museum storage.

On the 27th of August, 2014 VIP group from different countries visited our museum. They arrived with express flight to be acquainted with the unique collection of the museum just for an hour.

In the framework of “Museums Week” the exhibition of paintings dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Uzbek avant-garde painter U. Tansykbaev was opened in the permanent display and some of his works are for the first time exhibited from the museum storage.

On the 21st of August, 2014  in front of  the Amphitheatre in the city of Nukus was held the exhibition of traditional craftsmen dedicated to the 23th    anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the support of the Council of Ministers of the  Republic of Karakalpakstan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Central Bank of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Taxation Authority of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Ministry of Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Union of Traditional craftsmen “Khunarmand” and the Council of Youth Movement of the Republic of Karakalpakstan “Kamolot”.

Craftsmen and other organizations from all the districts of our Republic took part in the exhibition, including our museum that represented the weaving productions from experimental weaving workshop under the museum. The museum was awarded with the Diploma and a prize for the experimental works and for its souvenir products.


On the 15th of August the representative of the Swiss Bureau for  Cooperation M.Saidakhmedova  visited museum and got acquainted with the  activity of the museum’s educational project “Museum on wheels” proceeding its works during 3 months in the children’s summer camp of Karakalpakstan. And also the audio guides donated from the Club “Friends of Nukus Museum” were politely delivered by M.Saidakhmedova and the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan.

The art works and necessary materials for works were donated to Karakalpak State Art Museum named after I.V.Savitsky:
-  Uzbek artist Sarvinoz Kasimova made a gift of her painting entitled “In memory of A.N.Volkov” to the museum
– Painter  Alexander Kedrin’s made a gift of his paintings to the museum (USA)
- Restoration materials (Friends of Nukus Museum)
- Audio guides (Friends of Nukus Museum) were delivered by the Embassy of Switzerland in 
  Uzbekistan and Swiss Bureau for Cooperation 
- Fund “Makhalla” – 400 mln sums for designing museum’s new exhibition
- Scanner from A.Saipova.


Polish magazine for travelers “Voyage” in its July number devoted 10 pages and cover page to the story about the unique museum of art in Karakalpakstan. Along with wonders of the world from Asia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, China, Singapore, Uzbekistan is represented by one of the main attraction –the Savitsky State museum of art in Nukus.




Our museum is awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and Sticker as Winner 2014.

On the 1st of June was held the exhibition “The World of Childhood” devoted to “The Year of Healthy Child”. World of childhood is an integral part of any people’s culture. The artists greatly contributed in understanding of this world. Children were a permanent source of beauty and inspiration for them. The collection of the museum represents more than 80 art works, graphics, sculptures and applied art of the Uzbek, Russian and Karakalpak artists (E.Korovay “Near the cradle under flowers”, Nina Kashina “Bathing”, S.Konenkov “Portrait of son”, M.Gaydukevich “Grandmother with grandson”, K.Redko “Waiting for mother”, I.V.Savitsky “Aygul with flowers”, A.Shpade “My father”, Z.Gasanova “Indian woman”) and etc.

The inmates of orphan’s home gave concert and also the students of the Institute of higher education, mass media took part in the event.



On the 29th of May was opened the event entitled  “Remembering the Master”,  devoted to the creative activity of  Kydyrbay Saipov - is one of the first Karakalpak professional artists,  the Honoured  Artist of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan, The  Berdakh  Prize winner,  who greatly contributed to the development of Karakalpak visual art.

His paintings and graphic works particularly portraits, landscapes and stage designs for plays, and also the archive materials of the museum (photos, articles) revealing the life and creative endeavour of the artist were represented at the event.

The event was opened by the museum director   M.M.Babanazarova and other eminent art workers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.  The artist’s family and friends, mass media took part in the event.


On the 22nd of May, 2014 was held the master-class for schoolchildren from specialized art school in Nukus with the museum restorer of A.A.Shpade at the museum. During the master-class A.Shpade told about her art works, creative development, showing paintings and the restoration section of the museum. In the end of the event, the souvenirs were presented to the children.

In the frame of the Uzbekistan museums’ month campaign on the 18th of May, 2014, was held the event  “Art night”. The event’s programme  was so successful, as it included  concerts  of Karakalpak folklore and pop singers’ groups, show of documentary film about the museum “The museum remains”, interactive game “Experience yourself as a  museum employee” and special tours about the unique exhibits from the collection. Also the first meeting Café Scientifique was held in the museum café. The Sci-speaker of the event was Shamil Amirov – archeologist from Karakalpak Scientific Research Institute of Humanitarian Sciences. He delivered a lecture about the mysteries   of  Khorezmian kings  to the audience.

The project Café Scientifique is implemented jointly with the volunteers from Primary Health and Community Mobilisation.

The official Governmental guests, group of foreign tourists, local citizens and guests of the capital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan participated in the event.


On the 14 of May, 2014, the tourists from France visited our museum that arrived on the house trailers.

The inrush of tourists from different countries of the world to the museum continues in the spring.

Also the visit of our museum by schoolchildren of Nukus city and districts of Karakalpakstan is an actual activity in the frame of “The Year of Healthy Child” programme.

On the 5th of May, 2014 the event “Songs of Southern Aral Sea Area” was held at the museum. The national Karakalpak songs (melody) performed by musicians-baksy, throat singing - jiraw, and also other musicians’ performance were on programme of the event.  The presentation of the Italian version of biographical book “Igor Savitsky. Artist. Collector. Founder of the Museum” was also held at the event with participation of the Ambassador of Italy in Uzbekistan Ricardo Manara with his wife, to whom the administration of our museum expressed special gratitude for support of the book publication. The tourists from Denmark, Germany and Russia took part in the event.

On the 24th of April, 2014 grandniece of Russian painter Karl Bryullov visited The State Museum of Art of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V.Savitsky (great granddaughter of Karl’s brother – Alexander – artist-architect)


The new set of reproductions with masterpieces from our museum collection was released. The publication of product was made with support of Fond "Friends of the Nukus Museum".




On the 1st of March were taken the opening of exhibition «I like to be a woman». Woman - is a muse, who inspires many painters and sculptors on creation of world - known masterpieces. The mystery of woman’s charm impresses humanity all over the history of its being. It is doubtful whether there is a painter, who never tried to understand this mystery, but everyone opened it in his own way.
The exhibition combines selected works of painting, drawing and sculpture of 1919- 1980. More than 80 works of such painters as Shuhaev V.I.,Tarasov N.P., Karahan N.G., Kurzin M.I., Kashina N.V., Sokolov M.K., Stavrovskiy A.S., Abdurahmanova G.D., Esengaliev F.E., Shpade A.A. and many others, whose names can do credit for any picture-gallery, are represented here and joined by one subject - the subject of woman.

On September 26, the national Seminar - "Big cooperation: Tourism and Museums in Uzbekistan" was finalized.


“Fingers of embroiderers similar to sophisticated wire of skilful jeweler”

  On the 26 th of September 2013 in the Karakalpak State Art Museum named after I.V.Savitsky  a master-class entitled “Fingers of embroiderers similar to sophisticated  wire of skilful jeweler” was held.
The event was planned by the museum and aimed to promote the Karakalpak national embroidery, music and costumes.
  The event was devoted to the Karakalpak embroidery. The participants of the seminar, organized by the Representative office of UNESCO in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of culture and sports affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan State Art museum named after I.V.Savitsky  and pupils of specialized art school under the Academy of Arts in Uzbekistan, other guests and tourists attended the event.
Famous skilled embroiderers in our Republic Ayzada Nurumbetova, Nesiybeli Dalzhanova,  Gulnara Embergenova and the  student of Nargul Nagmetova - Mukhammedova Raykhan, took part in this event with their students who showed the process of embroidery.
  In the second part of the event the Piyazovs family performed national music, the passages from the epics accompanied by the musical instruments.
In the framework of the event the fashion show with national costumes from the collection of Ayzada Sitebaeva and Nargiza Asamatdinova was organized. This enriched guests’ impressions about the culture of Karakalpakstan.






National seminar  -  "Great collaboration: Tourism and Museums in Uzbekistan"

At the Savitsky Karakalpakstan State Museum , a national seminar -  "Great collaboration: Tourism and Museums in Uzbekistan" organized by the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Savitsky Karakalpakstan State Museum with the participation of Mr. S.Gibson, international expert of UNESCO, is being held.

The seminar started on September, 24 and will be held until September 26.

The Delegation of the French Senate in the museum

   On September 6, 2013, the State Art museum named after Savitsky received a Delegation led by Senator of the French Parliament, Chairman of the Senate’s Friendship Group “France-Central Asia” Andre Dulait and senators Yves Pozzo di Borgo and Michel Boutant, as well as executive secretary of the Friendship Group Michel Laflandre. The delegation was accompanied by the Chairman of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy -S.Safaev, Chairman of the Ecological Activity in Uzbekistan-B.Alikhanov and other members of community.




From London to Nukus on bikes!

   On 30.08.2013, the tourists, Nicolas Kernick  and Alexander Hurst, visited the Savitsky Museum who came a long way from the UK to Nukus on their bicycles. The graduates of the University of Cambridge, Nicolas Kernick and Alexander Hurst came specially to see with their eyes the museum of which they knew by the presentation held by M.M.Babanazarovа at the conference "Orientalism and Mentality" in May of this year, jointly organized by Cambridge University and  Qatar Orientalist Museum of Doha.




The exhibition “Artist and Theatre”- of avant-garde artists

   The exhibition “Artist and Theatre”- represents 94 artworks by Russian and Uzbek artists from the collection of the State Museum of Arts of Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.Savitsky. The exhibition aims to highlight artists’ works of the 1920-1930s in the art of set design at the theatre. It features the works by professional theatre artists, also the artworks of painters whose artistic endeavor was painting and graphic art, but their creative interest reflected in the theatre. Visitors of the exhibition will see the art of set design of well-known and frequently exhibited artists such as M. Kurzin, E. Korovay, V. Ufimtsev, M. Sokolov, A. Sardan V. Shukhaev, U. Tansykbaev and works of the great set designers whose art, for the first time, will be shown at exhibition halls of the museum. (R.Raspopov, M. Akselrod, A. Telingater, D. Ushakov and V. Basov) The stage design art of those years contained a wide range of artistic searches of the early XX century. The set design changed and became a high artistic solution that impressed with the new visual images, rich colour, decorative fantasy and scale of art mastery. Such masters of avant-garde as V.Ufimtsev, R.Raspopov, E. Korovay, M. Akselrod, A. Telingater, V. Basov, A. Sardan are distinguished not only by using plastic techniques, brought into theater from the painting but innovative approach in set design as a whole.

A gift to the museum!

   From July, 17 through August, 15 2013 at the State Museum of Arts of Republic of Karakalpakstan was held a personal exhibition of 2 young artists “My inversion” by G. Ibragimov and “My view” by S. Sabirbaev. After the exhibition was closed, G. Ibragimov presented his painting “Eastern motives-3” and video art- installation to the museum.


Solo Exhibition devoted to Izentaev opens On 14 February 2013

   The Savitsky Karakalpak State Museum of Art opened a solo exhibition devoted to the 70th birthday of the Academician of the Uzbek Academy of Arts and laureate of the Berdakh State award, Zh.T.Izentaev.Izentaev also carries the title of honorary art worker of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, people's artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan & honoured worker of culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The museum's collection includes more than 90 of his works, created in the 1970s and 1990s with a broad range of themes including genre paintings and compositions, portraits of relatives, landscapes, cities and towns, still -life, as well as architectural monuments
